Alicia Márquez (14-6-1972) started year dance education at the early age of five. Today she is recognised to be one the most faithful dancers to keep up the particular dance style from Seville. She was a pupil of Matilde Coral and completed her dance diploma at her tutors dance academy. At a very young age she began to dance professionally with Mario Maya’s dance company and gave her debut with the show RITMO Y AMOR BRUJO.

In 1988 she debuted in the Flamenco Biennale Festival of Seville, here she accompanied her “Maestra”, Matilde Coral and Rafael Aguilar in HOMENAJE A LOS MAESTROS. She was part of the cast for the musical AZABACHE choreographed by Manolo Marín at Expo92 in Seville.

After she experienced working with Carlos Saura in both his flamenco movies FLAMENCO and SEVILLANAS, she forms part of the Andalusian Dance Company (1995), where she worked till 2002 she performed in DE LOS FLAMENCOS, RÉQUIEM, EL PERRO ANDALUZ, SUITE IBERIA, LA VIDA BREVE, COSAS DE PAYOS, LATIDO FLAMENCO, RAMITO DE LOCURA, TURINA, PICASSO, ENCUENTROS, BODAS DE SANGRE and LEYENDA.

In 2002 she is back at The Flamenco Biennale Festival together with Fernando Romero and his choreography BACHDALIANA and with the show NOCHE choreographed by Joaquín Grilo. In this same year she is assistant to the director Andalusian Dance Company José Antonio from the. Also in this year she debuts her first performance as choreographer DE LA MEMORIA.

Besides her continues performances Alicia also runs her own dance school in the Herat of Seville.
