The musical path of the Romanian singer Diana Rasina begins in her native country with classical singing and in Vienna (Austria) she studies jazz, vocal pedagogy and Romance studies (French and Spanish).

Inspired by the diversity and the musical bridges that she finds in Austria’s capital city, Diana Rasina returns to her musical roots, the Romanian traditional music, and in 2013 she starts her first project with renowned musicians of the Viennese world music scene: Laszlo Racz from Hungary on the cimbalom, Dimitar Karamitev from Bulgaria on the kaval (the shepherd’s flute) and Jovan Torbica from Serbia on the double bass.

Diana Rasina’s actual project “Romance” with Slovak accordionist Miroslav Jankech and Austro-Japanese guitarist Alex Kohtaro Yoshii presents love songs in Romance languages from the Middle Ages to the present day and combines her passion for music and languages. With this project, Diana Rasina aims to draw attention to the linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe, by presenting songs not only in common languages (such as Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Romanian) but also in regional and minority languages.

The Romanian singer also performs a capella at international festivals and is involved in several musical projects, notably with world music and jazz. Diana Rasina also participates in social projects where she empowers through music women with a migration and refugee background and she advocates cultural diversity by conducting intercultural choirs.
