Réalta take a lively, exciting and respectful approach to Irish traditional music. Reared on a staple diet of The Bothy Band, Planxty and other such classics, this Belfast based band captures the timeless aspects of the tradition and presents it in its raw form; fresh and beautiful… Or as Herald Scotland put it, “Réalta carry on the Bothy Band tradition of taking tunes by the scruff of the neck and firing excitement through them like hot flames!”

Having toured Germany, Switzerland and Greece alongside traditional music legends Altan, headlined festivals in France, Belgium, Scotland and Ireland and won the prestigious 'Danny Kyle Award' at Celtic Connections Festival, these young musicians have firmly established themselves on the international Irish music scene. With a sound is based on the twin uilleann piping talents of Conor Lamb and Aaron O'Hagan, propelled by a dynamic accompaniment on guitar and bouzouki from Deirdre Galway and Dermot Mulholland, Réalta deliver a pipe and whistle extravaganza that will have you dancing and leave you wanting more.

"A full bodied pipe and whistle extravaganza is one way to describe the driving sound of Réalta...The group have a clever way of arranging the flow of instruments so that each one has a turn to shine, and whether it be in a solo capacity or together as a fluid unit; shine they do!”
