Seiva is one of the most unique and international bands in the folk scene in Portugal. They started their career in 2014 with the goal of making a musical project totally based on the Portuguese oral tradition. Heirsof Dazkarieh, Vasco Ribeiro Casais and Joana Negrão brought to Seiva their will to explore even further the Portuguese traditional music present in the worksongs, in the adufes and tambourines, in the songs of faith and in instrumentssuch as the cavaquinho, viola braguesa and Portuguese bagpipes. Using everything and mixing it with its original themes, with electronics and electricity, without modesty or purity.

In 2019, they were awarded the “Impulso” award from the Ibero-American periodicals network at the Exib Musica festival in Setúbal.

In 2020, they won the support of Dgartes for the creation of the project “Da Seiva à Árvore” with the aim of bringing traditional music to the school community through concerts and a textbook to be published in 2021.

2021 will be the year in which they will also launch a second album.

Seiva make the Portuguese roots gain a whole new meaning nowadays.
