Clare Sands is a sixth-generation fiddler, guitarist and rooted bilingual singer from Cork, Ireland. Channelling the music of her ancestors, she treads a path where Irish and English languages, Irish traditional, folk and contemporary music meet, threading through rugged landscapes to the beckoning sea, singing of resilience, solidarity, friendship, kinship and the power of women. Her eponymous album – its pulsing rhythms, traditional melodies, bilingual song and poetry, at once rousing and ethereal – was one of the Irish Times' Top 5 Folk Albums of 2022. Her prolific output includes music and film project collaborations with Irish music luminaries and spiritual partners such as: Steve Cooney, Susan O’Neill, Tommy Sands, Fiachna Ó Braonáin and Aisling Urwin; community projects in Ireland and Palestine; and live duo performances with low whistle uilleann pipes expert exponent, Conor Mallon.
