Isaac Tovar is a former soloist of the Ballet Nacional of Spain, Nuevo Ballet Español, Compañía Antonio “El Pipa”, Compañía Andaluza de Danza, among many other pre- mier national and international companies including Flamenco en route (Switzerland) or Flamenco Vivo (New York).
He is the recipient of the first prize for Free Dance at the renowned Perla de Cádiz competition, the first prize at the IV International Dance Festival in Almería, the first prize at the XXVII National Competition “Ciudad de Ubríque”, and of the second prize for Solo Choreography in the XXV Certamen of Choreography of Spanish Dance and Flamenco in Madrid.
Throughout his career he has danced in important theaters around the world, including: Teatro Real and Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, Teatro de la Maestranza in Sevilla, Teatro Cervantes in Málaga, Teatro Villamarta in Jerez, Mariinsky Theatre in St. Peters- burg, Palace of Music in Moscow, Chaillot Theatre in Paris, Sadler’s Wells of London, Bunkamura Theatre in Tokyo, International Theater in Taipei, Peking Opera House, and the Joyce Theater in New York City.
2002
Completed a degree in Spanish Dance at the Professional Dance Conservatory in Seville, Spain.
2004
Joined the Centro Andaluz de Danza under the direction of José Antonio, participat- ing in works such as “El Sombrero de Tres Picos” and “El Café de Chinitas”.
Danced with José Porcel’s Company in the production “Espartaco”, choreographed by José Granero.
Took part in the film “Iberia”, directed by Carlos Saura and choreographed by José Antonio
2005
Toured as company dancer and soloist with Rafael Aguilar’s company in Germany, Belgium and Spain with the shows “Carmen”, “Graná” and “Bolero”.
Joined the Antonio Gades Foundation participating in a tour of Italy. He took part in the tribute to Antonio Gades held at the Teatro de la Zarzuela. He was featured in works such as “Carmen”, “Bodas de Sangre” and “Fuenteovejuna”, in the latter per- forming as principal dancer in the role of “Frondoso”.
Placed as finalist in the Choreography Contest of the Teatro Albeniz with his original choreography.
Entered the dance corps of the Ballet Nacional de España, under the direction of José Antonio.
2007
Became a soloist for the Ballet Nacional de España (BNE), dancing in a wide range of productions and countless performances during his five year tenure. He was principal dancer in works such as “Elegía” and “Golpes De La Vida”, choreographed by José Antonio. During his time at BNE worked with important choreographers such as Fer- nando Romero, Antonio Canales, Carlos Rodríguez and Miguel Ángel Rojas.
2010
Joined the Compañia Aída Gómez as a soloist.

Featured as principal dancer at the opening of the Festival de Jerez together with Jua- na Amaya and Antonio “El Pipa” in the show “DanzaCalí- El Danzar de los Gitanos”.
2012
Joined a cast designed by and including Carlos Rodríguez and Miguel Ángel Rojas in a production of “Don Juan” at the Palace of Arts in Montreal, also setting the repertory for the company.
Featured as principal dancer in the company BPF’s production of “Don Quijote” in the titular role, choreographed by Javier Latorre.
Joined the company Danzarte as a soloist in the show “Voy”.
2013
Joined the company of Cecilia Gómez as a soloist in the show “Chavela”, an homage to Chavela Vargas.
2013- PRESENT
Tovar joined the company Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana as a guest artist and soloist, performing throughout the USA, and premiering three productions in New York City.
2014
Joined the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, dancing in their season at the Jardines del Generalífe Festival in the show “Memoria del Cante 1922”, under the direction of Rafaela Carrasco.
2014-2016
Traveled to Switzerland to work with the company “Flamenco en route”, performing in several tours of Switzerland and Ger- many.
2015
Performed as a soloist in the premiere of “ALMA” at the BAM Theater in New York City, choreographed by Ángel Muñoz.
2018
Performed as soloist and lead in the pre- miere of “Mujeres Valientes” at the BAM Theater in NYC, choreographed by Belén Maya.
