Hailing from a prestigious lineage of qawwali virtuosos in lively Faisalabad, Pakistan, Chahat Mahmood Ali has been steeped in the rich musical tapestry of his heritage from a tender age. Guided by the illustrious Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Chahat Ali's musical journey soared to new heights when he and his father mesmerized audiences during their UK debut in July 2023.
Since their captivating premiere, this talented father-son duo has graced over 200 plus qawwali events at esteemed venues, casting a spell on audiences at renowned locations such as London's iconic South Bank Centre, the bustling Big Johns Birmingham Mela, and the culturally vibrant Eid in the Square at Trafalgar Square (March 2024). Their enchanting melodies have reverberated within the walls of prestigious venues like Caird Hall in Dundee, the cutting-edge TRAMWAY in Glasgow, Bristol Beacon and the scenic Whitby Pavilion during the Music Port Festival on 27 October 2024.
The qawwali ensemble, comprising a constellation of nine exceptionally gifted members, has shared their soul-stirring harmonies with esteemed guests in the UK, from the Mayor of London to the First Minister of Scotland. Leading the ensemble is the seasoned patriarch, Mahmood Ali, whose deft touch on the harmonium has graced performances alongside luminaries such as Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Faiz Ali Faiz. With a wealth of collective experience, the ensemble includes members who have illuminated international stages alongside legends like Faiz Ali Faiz and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, making their mark at prestigious festivals like WOMAD and WOMEX under the distinguished Qawwali Brands banner.
