Film Screening: 'Worlds of Sound: The Ballad of Folkways'

In 1948, “Folkways Records founder Moses Asch turned the music business model on its head”

Worlds of Sound: The Ballad of Folkways tells the story of Moses Asch and Folkways Records. Started by Asch in 1948, the label was acquired by the Smithsonian Institution in 1987. Folkways was a record label like no other, seeking to document the entire world of sound, rather than make hits. Today, the U.S. national museum's collection contains over 45,000 items, sound spanning the entire globe and out into interplanetary space.

The screening will take place Saturday October 20th at 12:10pm, at the Cinema in Helexpo, Thessaloniki, as part of the WOMEX Film Market.
