Acclaimed American pianist Kathryn Woodard curates and performs programs that explore cross-cultural exchange in music. Her international performances have taken her to China, Korea, Croatia, Germany, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and most recently Thailand where she was the first to perform the music of Turkish composer Adnan Saygun in that country.

In 2001 she was designated an American Cultural Specialist by the U.S. Department of State. In the U.S. she has performed at such notable venues as Carnegie Hall, the Freer Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Detroit Institute of Art, and the Dallas Museum of Art.
As an advocate for new music Woodard has worked with such noted composers Karlheinz Stockhausen, Yehudi Wyner, Ge Gan-ru, Huang Ruo, and Frederic Rzewski and has performed numerous premieres. She began researching the Turkish composer Adnan Saygun in 1997 and has since introduced numerous audiences to composers from Turkey and across Asia. She continues to lead the initiative Sonic Crossroads with the aim of shedding light on global piano music, and her performances have been featured on the broadcasts Performance Today and The Front Row. She has released an album of solo piano music by Ahmed Adnan Saygun and two albums, Silhouettes and Journeys, which feature both recent and older works from around the globe.

Kathryn Woodard studied piano performance and pedagogy at the Munich Hochschule fuer Musik and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
