ALW 4013 | A collection of original compositions, which, with different approaches from classical to jazz and interwoven with the special Carinthian-Slovenian note, creates something new and unique.

ARTISTS:

Mira Gregorič - violin
Sara Gregorič - guitar

Surrounded by music from an early age, the siblings Gregorič, Mira violin and Sara played guitar together as early as preschoolers. The first public appearance soon followed and as part of the music education at what is now the Slovenian Music School of the Province of Carinthia, the first excellent competitions also followed. The music studies led the two sisters to Vienna at the mdw - University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and to Linz at the Anton Bruckner Private University, where they broadened their musical work as artists, their stylistic curiosity and also completed their pedagogical training.

The Duo Sonoma is also characterized by the fact that they have been making music together for over 20 years, which is reflected in the unique interplay. The communication in the game takes place on a non-verbal basis and a togetherness becomes noticeable from the first note played.
Her own compositions are a combination of different musical genres, which are influenced by classical music, tango and jazz improvisation, folk melodies and even new music. So their music is always created together, because musical and personal exchange are always in the foreground here. The respective training (rhythm studies, classical studies and jazz studies) and different musical emphases are combined in the pieces of the sisters, thus creating an extraordinary synthesis of these styles.

The duo's first CD, entitled "DUO SONOMA - I", is a collection of their own compositions that they have created so far. Shaped by personal experiences, their compositions feel calm moments that are broken up by rhythmic elements. Each piece is unique in its way and unmistakable in its structure and is in a flowing musical dialogue.
