Although the Igloo label, created in 1978, is best known for its jazz productions, it has preserved the more eclectic vocation of its origins under the Igloo imprint, as well as remaining open to other horizons by supporting multi-cultural encounters.
These include Pierre Van Dormael with the Senegalese kora player Soriba Kouyaté, Charles Loos and the Aissawas of Rabat, Anfass, Majid Bekkas, Mâäk Spirit with the Gnaoua Express from Tangier… Since the creation of the « Igloo Mondo » line in 2005 to clarify the color of the label, numerous artists enriched the label, as the belgo-Moroccan group Qayna, the flutist Manuel Hermia, Claudia Meyer, the Argentine guitarist Daniel Miranda...
In the quite recent releases, Igloo is happy to present several new releases including Auster Loo "Collective", a breath of fresh air into Belgium’s acoustic music scene with musicians from all horizons, Pierre Vaiana's new album "Camera Obscura" reflecting his Sicilian roots, Manuel Hermia & Christine Ott's new LP, "The Lotus Path", exploring the concept of ‘rajazz’, a cross between tonal music and Indian modal music and of course Aleph Quintet, the new revelation on the Brussels music scene, combining North African music with jazz improvisation, Gnawa rhythms and Sufi culture.
