Edwina Hayes is a singer/songwriter who has been a regular performer on both the London and Nashville acoustic scene since 1999. Born in Dublin and raised in Lancashire, Edwina's beautifully crafted songs and natural stage presence have led her to some of the UK's finest stages.
Dividing her time between the UK and America, Edwina's second home is Nashville where she is much respected on the songwriting circuit. She has been a regular performer at such haunts as The Bluebird Cafe, 12th & Porter, Brown's Diner and the Sherlock Holmes. Her influences include Ray Charles, Carole King, Van Morrison, Nanci Griffith, Richard Thompson, Patty Griffin and Bob Dylan.
As well as writing on her own, Edwina has co-written with friends incuding Boo Hewerdine, Ricky Ross Don Rollins (who recently penned It's Five O Clock Somewhere for Alan Jackson/Jimmy Buffet) and Bobby Wood.
In 2005 Edwina released her debut album on the Warner Brothers label and had one of her songs chosen to go on the No.1 bestselling CD 'Acoustic Love.' Michael Parkinson and Bob Harris have been tremendous supporters of Edwina on BBC Radio 2. To promote the album Edwina toured the UK for the first time by invitation from artists including; Jools Holland, Van Morrison, Nanci Griffith, Ricky Ross, Loudon Wainwright lll and Daniel Beddingfield. She was joined on the Clive Gregson/John Woods album by the likes of Christine Collister, Helen Watson and Dr Hook’s Dennis Locorriere.
2007 saw Edwina particularly hectic with more prestigious tour slots alongside Van Morrison and Nanci Griffith - and much activity with her ‘Hummingbird’ project – a trio featuring herself plus fellow singer/songwriters Amy Wadge and Cathy Burton. Their album has had much media interest and led to some outstanding performances at festivals and venues throughout the UK.
Edwina has recently been recording her second solo album ‘Pour Me a Drink’ which is scheduled for release this autumn ahead of her spring 2008 tour.
