TATAKI is a Helsinki based folk rock trio consisting of Taiwanese Shamisen player Zuiko, Finnish drummer Aarne, and Chilean bass player Javier. Although the three musicians come from different parts of the world, they share a common characteristic in their playing: they all strike their instruments! Hence the name TATAKI which comes from the Japanese word for ’’to strike/hit’’. As the ’bachi’ hits the strings of the shamisen, the drumsticks hit the drums, and the fingers strike the strings of the bass, TATAKI creates a sound that’s highly rooted in rhythmic elements. With background in rock music in combination with their love for Japanese culture, the members of TATAKI will take you on a fun and wild journey! Get ready for some hard hitting and freshly arranged traditional pieces from Japan, pop songs from Taiwan, and catchy originals!
