Tanya Walker is an established award winning singer songwriter, composer, musician and performer from Brecon, Mid Wales. Accolades range from winning at aged 17, the St David Hospice National Song Search with record release, to most recently performing her Arts Council of Wales funded new musical work 'Breaking the Fearwall, at Hay Festival 2012's main Barclaycard arena.

She has performed as both solo artist and with accompanying band, at high profile venues throughout Britain, such as headlining at a high profile concert to commemorate the lives of 9/11 victims at Grosvenor Square London in 2008.

Highlights have included winning the PRS/FOPP Competition for Best Singer Songwriter for Southwest & Wales in 2004 and susequently representing the PRS in the creation of new material with Chinese musicians in Beiijing, soon after releasing 2nd EP 'The Changing Me', funded by the PRS and sold at FOPP stores throughout the UK.

In 2009 she became a mother and following her young daughters serious illness in 2010 Tanya determined that she would create a large scale emotional musical response to this experience, which explored the resilience of the human spirit to overcome adversity and reach its greatest potential..

'Breaking The Fearwall' premiered to a sell out audience at Brecon Cathedral in March 2012,

Fronted by Tanya on piano and vocals, it featured harmonies sung by the 36 member Brecon Cathedral choir, a 9 piece contemporary acoustic ensemble, ableton live samples and film imagery projections onto the cathedrals wall. Further performances were in the main Barclaycard Arena at Hay Festival 2012, Ludlow Assembly Rooms and Brecon Jazz Fringe.

Tanya is now in the process of securing funding to create a trans-national new work, in partnership with Theatr Brycheiniog, exploring ancient Welsh and European culture with influences drawn from the work of Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson, Kate Bush (The 9th Wave) and current artists such as folk artists Spiro, Sam Lee and Canadian gloteral throat singer Tanya Tagaq.

Tanya has most recently been selected as one of only 8 artists/ acts in Wales to participate in the Trac Cymru's Artist Development Programme.

Whether it be as a solo artist, or with multiple performers on a large scale work, Tanya's authentic, world class performances cannot fail to move, touch and inspire even the hardest of hearts.
