Luiz Melodia was born in a Rio de Janeiro's slum in 1951, with 20 years old he released his first album, "Perola Negra", a huge success in Brasil, projecting Melodia in Brasil and in many other countries.
In the following decades, Melodia won lots of awards with his particular style ans swing, and performed at important stages alround the world, like Chateauvallon Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, Folcalquier and, the most recent performance at Brazilian Summer Sessions in Amsterdam (02/07/2010) at the traditional jazz house Bimhuis.
