Promoting African music in regional and international markets

"Promoting African music in regional and international markets", an ongoing Global Alliance and African Music Export Office (BEMA) project

Once again, UNESCO’s Global Alliance for Cultural Diversity will attend the annual WOMEX Fair to meet many of its partners in the music sector and participate in the presenting the partnership project "Promoting African music in regional and international markets".

Following training sessions in Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea and Burkina Faso, aiming to improve the skills of music producers in artist career management, marketing and music export, ten professionals were selected to participate in WOMEX 2008. An international expert will provide monitoring and specific training before, during and after the event so they can fully benefit from the experience. Please come and meet these talented African producers at the presentation and networking meeting scheduled on Friday 31 October 2008 at 12 p.m. in the Mezquita Room.

In addition, the main challenges BEMA faces in meeting its objectives and the implemented means to overcome these challenges will be presented on Friday, 31 October at 4 p.m. in the Ronda Room. The aim is to create new synergies between public operators, private and civil society around BEMA to promote, on the one hand, the emergence of a music sector structured in the region and, and on the other, the circulation of Western African cultural goods and services on the international scene.
