Anoushka Shankar has shown herself to be a unique artist with tremendous talent and understanding of the musical tradition of India. She has been playing and studying the sitar with her father, the legendary composer, Ravi Shankar, since she was nine, and at age thirteen she made her performing debut on stage. On her latest album "Rise" which was composed, produced and arranged by Anoushka, she collaborated with a select crew of virtuoso Eastern and Western musicians wielding a variety of both acoustic and electronic instruments, often engaging in unexpected ways to create tantalizing new sounds.
