Ravi Shankar is the emblematic musician of the classical tradition of North India. Born in 1920 in Benares, he followed the strict teaching of his guru, Baba Allaudin Khan, who taught him all the subtleties of the raga, that music that ''colours the soul''. He received in his own country the envied title of Pandit, as well as the esteem of great musicians coming from all the musical horizons of the planet, such as Yehudi Menuhin, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Philip Glass, Zubin Mehta, John Coltrane, or his disciple George Harrison.
