Orchestre International du Vetex

Welcome to ‘Plaza Mayor’, the new performance of the Orchestre International du Vetex, definitely a band out of the blue. More than that, it’s a collective of about 15 musicians, from Flanders, Wallonia and the North of France. Since they started up in 2004 in the former textile-plant in the Sint-Jans neighbourhood of Kortrijk, the band played more than 1000 shows. From blockparty’s in Wazemmes, Jemappes, Béziers or Stasegem, to big festivals like Couleur Café, La Fête de l’Huma, Dranouter or Esperanzah. From the squares in Sarajevo to the metro in Prague. From the Olymplic Wintergames in Torino, or Mons 2015 to prestigious jazz-and theaterfestivals in Graz, Krakow, Nis, Beijing, Buenos Aires or Montreal… From honeymoons to funerals, from street-theatre to rock-festivals.

On their 5th studio-album ‘Plaza Mayor’ the transborder Orchestre International du Vetex continue their collaboration with the Ukranian musician Yuriy Gurzhy (Russendisko, Rotfront) and their French producer/mixing engineer David Bourguignon (La Kinky Beat, Radio Bemba).

Again this work and the songs from the French-Polish-Sicilian trumpetplayer/composer Don Tomasino deliver a perfect soundtrack for a colourful trip through both the Balkans, Latin-America, Central-Europe or the Belgian-French territories where brassbands are clearly part of the cultural heritage…

Available for clubshows, theatres, festivals, street events, Christmas Markets or weddings where people smile and children dance…
