Strange Boy is a remarkable contemporary rapper hailing from Limerick who seamlessly blends hip-hop and Irish traditional music, embodying the spirit of a thousandyear-old poet reflecting on the harsh realities of life in a disadvantaged urban landscape, declaiming his rhymes against a backdrop of bodhran, banjo, guitar and bass. His debut album, HOLY / UNHOLY, produced by Enda Gallery and featuring Clannad vocalist, Moya Brennan, received extraordinary critical acclaim, and was hailed by Hot Press as one of the top six global hip-hop albums of 2021. In 2023, Strange Boy received the prestigious Liam O’Flynn award, and the National Concert Hall granted him a residency. 2024 saw him chosen as an official showcase artist at Folk Alliance and performing his singular, groundbreaking fusion at major festivals, including The Great Escape and Fête de la Musique in Paris.
