CHEB NACIM


An original voice and a modern style with a rythmic musical structure, Cheb Nacim assisted by his brother Sofiane "Keyboard player" merges modern Rai with a traditional music base.

Since childhood Cheb Nacim and his brother shared deep passion for Rai music. They also studied this art at the much renowned "El Mouhsiliya" School in Algeria.

Uppon their arrival to France in 1992 they formed a Rai band and started playing their original compositions in small functions, weddings and music festivals.
The first big concerts took place around the suburbes of Nantes in 1993, venues such as "Quai de la Fosse" with Khaled and Cheb Mami and the "Triangle" in Rennes played host to Cheb Nacim's first big break in 1993.

Deeply affected by the death of "Cheb Hasni" in 1994, Cheb Nacim took part in the tribute concert alongside the biggest stars of Rai,"Sahraoui, Fedela, Nasro, Tahar, Mohamed Lamine and chika Remiti" to name but a few.

Highly encouraged by his family and friends, Cheb Nacim kicked start the year 1995 with a tour which took him to "Rennes, Lille, Le Mans, Malakoff, St Nazaire, Roubais. In the same year he was approached by some Algerian compatriotes to represent him in the International exhibition of Nantes.

Soon after that cheb Nacim and his brother took off to England. Rich in their musical experiences, they decided to take it to the next level by adding a mixture of exotic rythms such as Flamenco, Salsa and Rumba.

After few small gigs in restaurants and other relatively small venues. Where, they were warmly welcomed by the Algerian community. Cheb Nacim first appeared on "MBC" in 1996. This appearance got him an invitation to the very prestigious "Carnival D'Algerie" in 1997.

In 1998, Cheb Nacim and his brother surrounded by some other musicians, prepared and gave a concert with Cheba Zahouania in the Hammersmith Irish center. The event was broadcasted on the "ANN" TV channel.

Many concerts later Cheb Nacim's reputation grew bigger and saw him open concerts for "L'Orchestre National de Barbes" in the Queen Elizabeth Hall and "Faudel" at the Hammersmith Palais.

Cheb Nacim would like to thank all those who supported him, in particular his parents and close friends. He also wishes that all the hard work and effort pays off in the form of bringing joy and happiness to all.
