Almost 40 years have passed between Díaz's first attempts at the bagpipe in the early 80s and As Catedrais Silenciadas. A prolific performer, teacher and researcher, he has become one of the best known artists in the Galician traditional music scene. Díaz was a member of the much-loved folk band Berrogüeto from 2008 to 2014 and has also recorded two albums with all-star ensemble aCadaCanto.
He has received numerous awards for his work, such as the Premio de Música Independiente for Best Galician Album in 2016, Premios Martín Códax in the Traditional Music Section 2016 or Premio Rebulir de Cultura Gallega 2021 in the Music category. As Catedrais Silenciadas is his third work with Adufeiras de Salitre, after The Tambourine Man and Noró. The three albums enjoyed great acclaim from both critics and the public, with outstanding sales success and repercussions in World Music. His last work spent three months in the Top Ten of the WMCE and won the Premios Martín Códax in the Traditional Music category last 2020.
