The Tarab ensemble is made up of five musicians and one dancer from a wide range of artistic backgrounds, united by a common desire to develop an aesthetic language that is both innovative and respectful of the artistic traditions it evokes. The repertoire is inspired in particular by oriental music and dance (India, Afghanistan, Iran, the Arab world, Turkey, Greeceā€¦), with a few nods to the world of jazz and Afro-American music. The programme is based on a series of original compositions by the members of the group, alternating with modal improvisations on a variety of rhythms.

Tarab: this word of Arabic origin evokes the intense emotion, tinged with ecstasy and nostalgia, that performers and audiences can experience when sharing inspired music and dance.
