ÆSTHESIS (aísthêsis in ancient Greek) refers to the senses, the faculty of perception—both intellectual and sensory. At each of their concerts, Abel Zamora, Celeste Lejeune, Jonas Mordzinski, and Camille Chopin offer an extremely personal and expressive journey that opens minds and hearts. From Monteverdi to John Cage to contemporary composers, they draw on associations and parallels to craft a program that stems from their sensibilities and resonates with today’s audience. With no limits on genre, style, or era, the breaking down of repertoire boundaries lies at the heart of this four-voice project.
The four voices of Æsthesis blend in a performance that is by turns playful and serious, with an intimate repertoire that breaks free from the usual expectations associated with a classical quartet.
The BIRDS musical project is an immersive, soundscape adventure that was originally created to blend music with the LPO’s (League for the Protection of Birds) outreach and awareness-raising efforts. The Æsthesis Quartet presents a unique, eclectic, and interdisciplinary program in collaboration with saxophonist and composer Peter Corser.
