Siân Pottok is a global artist. Born in Florida to a mother of Indian and Congolese descent and a father of Slovak and Belgian origin, she grew up in Belgium, New York, and Paris, learning early on to turn borders into bridges.

Trained in the jazz clubs of Paris and later New York, she honed her voice through collaboration with musicians such as Richard Bona, Jon Batiste, and Mike Stern. For nearly ten years, she simultaneously led cultural projects with women and children facing exile, violence, or poverty in India and Southern Africa.

Her discovery of the kamélé ngoni—which she learned to play from the Malian master Abou Diarra—marked a decisive turning point: the instrument became the central thread of a musical style that blends African, jazz, folk, soul, alternative pop, and Brazilian influences.

Through collaborations with Rogê, Chico César, Fatoumata Diawara, Lokua Kanza, Flavia Coelho, and Philippe Baden Powell, Siân has built a body of work that is free-spirited and defies categorization. Like Björk, Joni Mitchell, or Laura Mvula, she forges ahead as an explorer, guided less by musical genres than by a constant desire to reinvent her own sonic landscape.
