Three musicians from Taranto dedicated to upholding and exalting the concept of rituality in music by exploring the ancestral relationship between man and nature. Steeped in the ritual healing sounds of their home region they emphasise and celebrate the multi-ethnic components of that tradition: the common rhythmic matrix coming from Africa, elements from similar musical traditions from Sicily and Romania, and the spiritual connections to Amazonian tribes using natural elements in ritualistic healing. The word Yarákä symbolises the four elements in the Tupi-Guarani language. Uniting instruments from all these seemingly disparate cultures, Yaràkä create spellbinding, trance-inducing music paying homage to Taranto’s rich history as a cultural crossroads, while seeking to re-awaken awareness of the importance of a more direct communication between humanity and the natural world, a dialogue that is increasingly obscured and ignored by modernity.
