Exceptional afro-Brazilian master percussionist Adriano Adewale has been based in the UK since 2000. He developed an enviable reputation as a side man playing as a core member of the Antonio Forcione Quartet and Duo and with many other artists including Netsayi Chigwendere, Modeste Hughes, Monica Vasconcelos, Chico Chagas to name but a few.

He established his own international ensemble, the Adriano Adewale Group, in 2007 with whom he released his debut album Sementes to critical acclaim. The group have been touring nationally since then.

The group's second album Raizes will be released in September 2010.

Adriano's compositions are an intelligent and eclectic fusion of global influences. Rooted in the musical traditions of Nigeria, Angola and Brazil but infused with contemporary European classical and jazz styles, the music is refreshing, life affirming and powerful.

In 2009 Adriano created and toured his solo performance project Sound Journey (produced by SEGUE)which was presented at festivals including Latitude and the Edinburgh Fringe.

He has recently been invited to open for Salif Keita at the Barbican Hall and to play with Joanna Macgregor and the Britten Sinfonia.

Adriano is 2009-10 Artist in Residence at the University of Essex and an Associate Artist of UK creative producer SEGUE. He is supported by Arts Council England through the "Escalator Music scheme".
