Susanna Stivali, a new and interesting voice of Italian jazz music. Lyrics and music author. As in the best vocal jazz tradition, the voice is the story of a melody, but also a solo instrument seeking new sounds and a link with the other instruments. Her first approach to music is with the piano and classical singing, with the Maestro Luigi Rumbo and Mara Rohrmann, to then move on to jazz singing under the tutelage of Mark Murphy, Barry Harris, Bob Stoloff, Mily Bermejo In '97 she won a scholarship at the Berkley College of Music in Boston where she goes to live for about a year and a half. In the United States she gets a chance to study in depth the Afro-American music and culture and to sing as a solo vocalist in the 'Reverence Gospel Choir' directed by M° Dennis Montgomery III. Since '97 she has taken part to various musical contests and festivals: "Umbria Jazz Winter": "Baronissi Jazz"; "International Folk Music Festival" (Boston); "Barga Jazz"; "Terracina Jazz Festival"; " Festival-Concorso Viva il Jazz", also participating to the RAI 1 television program " Viva il Jazz"; "Festival Jazz di Malta"; "Crest Jazz Vocal" (France) Since February 2003 she is part of the improvisation lab-orchestra conducted by Paolo Damiani (Montepulciano-Siena-Italy) She collaborates with some of the best musicians on the Italian Jazz scene: Rosario Giuliani, Pietro Lussu, Pietro Ciancaglini, Lorenzo Tucci, Emanuele Basentini, Carlo Atti, Aldo Bassi, Marco Di Gennaro, Mauro and Carlo Battisti, Pino Jodice, Andrea Beneventano,Eddy Palermo.

She also collaborates with Miriam Makeba, Andy Gravish, Lee Konitz with whom she partecipates at the "Concerto per l'Epifania" in S. Chiara, Naples, showed on television by Rai 1 (2003) Since '94 she has taken part in several television programs for Rai and Mediaset : "Papaveri e Papere"; "Cercando Cercando"; "Uno Mattina"; "Tutti gli zeri del mondo", in this last one she accompanies Miriam Makeba. She participates in the realisation of soundtracks in collaboration with the Maestro Andrea Guerra, the Maestro Bruno Lochi, Walt Disney Italia, and Dreamworks In recent years she has also been active as a composer: in 2001 and 2002, she writes the soundtracks for two pilot episodes for the "Scuola di Fiction di Mediatrade" with Fabrizio Bondi; in 2003 she writes the music for the theatre show "Collected Stories", directed by Carlo Benso, and performed in the "Teatro dell'Orologio" in Rome. Her first album, which is about to be released by Alfa Music, is recorded with the trio of musicians which usually accompanies her: Luca Mannutza at the piano, Marco Loddo at the double bass, Nicola Angelucci at the drums, and featuring the special appearance of Rosario Giuliani at the saxophone.
