Young Agathe charms the audience with a warm and sultry voice, she has an incredible scenic presence and an impressive artistic maturity. She has been immersed from a very young age in music, and her franco-brazilian background gives her a precious musical richness.
Agathe Iracema, was born in Paris, with a brazilian father and a french mother. She was immersed in music from a very Young age in music, and her franco-brazilian background gives her a precious musical palette from which to draw.jazz through tapdance and through her brazilian bass player father. She’s all ears and eyes.
At the age of 14, she received the help of the american singer Sheila Jordan, she records three tunes with Vincent Bourgeyx (piano) and Juan-Sebastien Jimenez (double bass).
The following year saw the first performance of the ‘Agathe Jazz Quartet’ at the Café Universel Jazz Club. Her ensuing accomplishments include: The ‘Prix du Public’ at the Festival Jazz à Vian (2009), The opening of the Jazz Delft Festival (2010) in the Nederlands, The Trophées du Sunside (2010)Sélection «Jazz à Vienne /Rezzo » (2011) for the national stepping stone of the young jazz generation.
She has since performed in numerous jazz festivals: Jazz à Vienne, Jazz à St germain des près, Jazz à toute heure, Orléans Jazz Festival, Orlyjazz and in several prestigious parisian jazz clubs such as the Sunside, le Baiser salé, New Morning. In 2011, she has also founded a new band: the Agathe Iracema Brazilian Music Band with the Young drummer Tiss Rodriguez, dedicated to the greatest melodists of her ancestral country. Since 2012, she‘s been touring France with her two bands: "Agathe Jazz Quartet"and "Agathe Iracema Brazilian Music Band". A perfect sense of rythm and melody, a deep velvet timbre and full of emotion.
Agathe Iracema, franco - brésilienne nait et grandit à Paris. Depuis sa prime enfance, elle vit et respire la musique. Se réveillant avec Caetano Veloso et s’endormant au son de la trompette de Miles Davis. Elle traverse son enfance en chantant et en dansant.
Quand à 14 ans, elle assiste à une masterclass de Sheila Jordan, la grande Dame du Jazz tend l‘oreille : « I heard Agathe at a workshop in Paris and was literally blown away with her fantastic talent, Agathe is Star Material. » Cette bénédiction donnera à Agathe la force de dire à 14 ans : « C’est ce que je veux faire de ma vie : je veux chanter ».
Agathe se produit alors à chaque occasion, que ce soit lors des nuits d‘étés aux bords de Seine, à l’école, lors de fêtes avec des amis ou de jam sessions. Tout en continuant ses études, elle commence à se produire dans les Jazz clubs parisiens où elle fait rapidement salle comble. Un public fidèle et de plus en plus nombreux suit la jeune chanteuse. Sa rencontre avec le contrebassiste Juan Sebastien Jimenez initiera la formation de son quartet.
Avec des arrangements très modernes de standards du jazz et ses compositions originales, « Agathe Jazz Quartet fait souffler un vent de fraicheur dans le paysage du Jazz français ».
Parallèlement à cette formation acoustique, Agathe fonde avec la complicité du batteur Tiss Rodriguez un groupe dédié aux grands compositeurs du pays de ses ancêtres, le Agathe Iracema Brazilian Music Band. Des précurseurs de la Bossa Nova aux rythmes contemporains, du Samba-Rock des années 70 aux compositions de son père qui ont bercé son enfance, le répertoire est un voyage au cœur de ses racines brésiliennes.
