Errol "C-Weed" Ranville
The song "Evangeline" in 1980 started a colorful and long musical journey for country singer/songwriter Errol Ranville and his C-Weed Band which continues today with the success of the 1 song on the National Aboriginal Top 40 Countdown (June 2012) "Can This be Love" from his most recent album "Forever".
Ranville has recorded 19 albums in this 32 year span which include popular hits "Magic in the Music", "I Wanna Fly", and "Run as One". His songs have been nominated for Juno Awards and Canadian Country Music Awards. He spent some years opening night clubs across western Canada under the name C-Weeds Cabaret to stage young up and coming Aboriginal acts and then moved on to producing the Manito Ahbee Festival, and the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards.
Ranville's passion for assisting young artists in planning their careers is currently highlighted by the success of young artist singer/songwriter Ali Fontaine. Ranville co-porduced, along with Marc Arnould, the Ali Fontaine self-titled debut album which garnered multiple awards in the APCMA's and the CAMA's for 2011.
Today, Ranville is enjoying having the 1 song on the National Aboriginal Top 40 Countdown and is putting the final touches on Ali Fontaine's second album "Diamond in the Rough", to be released June 2012, as well as staging the new seven piece C-Weed Band in Aboriginal communities across Canada which occasionally features Ali Fontaine as a guest artist.
