Gran Kino invites Ayanda Nhlangothi, Burni Aman, Jitsvinger & Manelis

In 2011, Gran Kino created 1989, bandes originales, a show with which the band has given birth to a very innovative concept which have attracted french national media interest (France Info , France Inter, RFI, Rock & Folk, Longueurs d'Ondes...)

What a long way they have come with this show: from Saône & Loire to Paris, Hungary, Germany, Indonesia, Laos, China, Hong Kong and latest step in the autumn 2012: Cape Town in South Africa, which has offered an incredible welcome to the show, from which will ensue a new idea of project, just as original: Under Madiba Skies.

Gran Kino proposes to reclaim the words used by Nelson Mandela in his inaugural speech. Freedom, future, reconciliation and renewal, deliberately optimistic words, projected into the future, but also words with a strong symbolic value that both guests and musicians from Gran Kino will know how to highlight in their new compositions.

This project will gather the whole band of Gran Kino and artists encountered and heard during the 1989's tour in southern Africa.

Whether they are from Durban, rapping in Zulu, from Johannesburg singing with a traditional sweetness or even from Cape Town singing in Afrikaans or in English, the idea is here: gathering on stage French and South African artists, different languages, different visions and points of view and, above all, an endless artistic richness.

Whether through rock, hip-hop or spoken word, all these artists are committed to present this moment of History, and in particular to bring their vision of South Africa as it is today, to talk about everyday life which should definitely not be the one dreamt about by Mandela on this day of 1994.

Without a doubt, all the artists will also be keen to recall what has happened in twenty years and whether this generation has been able to benefit from these words and ideas...

During more than one hour fifteen minutes (for its long version) and only constituted of creations, this show will highlight the energy, the vocal and musical qualities of all participants. Live music, singers that come in and out according to their interventions, duos in two languages, encounters between a Zulu male singer and a French female singer, a true artistic adventure.
Of course, artists had fun retrieving some sentences from this speech and will claim them to the audience, in order for them to enter more easily this story.

8 artists, both musicians and singers, with a perfect cohesion.

A production and a décor of lights and screens specially designed for the occasion will offer an additional emotional character to this encounter First single available on October 10th, 2013: listen on soundcloud.com/gran_kino
