Brahim El Mazned is the artistic director of the Timitar Festival of World Music, mainly dedicated to the Amazigh culture, which is known all over the world and has became one of the major events of world music. While ensuring the promotion of Amazigh (Berber) culture, the festival hosts more than 600 artists and receives about half a million spectators each year.
He is also artistic advisor for the Festival of Popular Arts in Marrakech and several events and festivals in Morocco and abroad.
He is a member of the jury of Babel Med World Music Forum in Marseille since its inception; juror of the Prix Océan Indien, and of the festival Sharq Taronalari in Samarkand, Uzbekistan since 2005.
In 2009, he was invited to lead, for the MENA region, the cultural pre-selection for the 6th Francophone Games in Beirut, and for the 7th edition in Nice (France) in September 2013.
In 2013, Brahim El Mazned was elected as a member of the Board of the European Forum of Worldwide Music Festivals (EFWMF), the largest network of music festivals in the world, by network members during the annual General Assembly of the EFWMF held at Babel Med in Marseille that year. In 2014, he was appointed one of the 5 Samouraï of the prestigious annual meeting of World Music: WOMEX. He was also named North Africa Regional Representative for the Afrifestnet Network, and Maghreb representative for the African Music Export Office. More recently, he was appointed Secretary General of the Hiba Foundation and Regional Director for Northern Africa and member of the International Committee for All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
In recent years, Brahim El Mazned has hosted worldwide conferences and training workshops relating to careers in entertainment, he has initiated over twenty artistic residencies (Brazil, France, Spain, Reunion, New Caledonia, Madagascar, Mali, Greece, Tunisia ...), and participated in the creation of a dozen albums and hundreds of concerts at prestigious festivals and venues around the world.
Brahim El Mazned is now, after more than twenty years of activity in the Moroccan cultural world, an essential reference when it comes to programming Moroccan and world music and organizing major artistic events. These achievements have been acknowledged on several occasions in particular when he was selected by Les Aventuriers de la Culture. Guide de la Diversité Culturelle among the top 100 leaders in sustainable cultural development, or when he was selected by the Moroccan weekly Tel Quel as one of the hundred individuals who contribute to the promotion and development of Morocco.
In 2014, he successfully organized the first Africa and the Middle East Music Meeting: Visa For Music, which was held from 12 to 15 November 2014 in Rabat (Morocco) and is currently organizing the third edition which is set to be held again in Rabat from November 16th to 19th 2016.
