A Lusophone spirit in constant mutation.
Espírito is the new musical project of Toli César Machado, composer of GNR (New Rock Group) for about 35 years. Toli César Machado now debuts as the composer of all the songs in this solo project.
For the lyrics of the songs, for example, the composer invited José Luís Peixoto, Tiago Torres da Silva, Mário João Alves, Adolfo Luxúria Canibal, and Jónatas Pires. In these partnerships, in a kind of game of creative seduction, the composer, in some themes, was inspired by the lyrics; in others, the writer was inspired by the music, in a surprising result.
To give voice to eight of the ten themes, Toli César Machado also invited Ricardo Ribeiro, Adolfo Luxúria Canibal, Selma Uamusse, Dom La Nena, and Marcela Freitas. With a clear intuition, Toli Cesar Machado knew that these would be the right singers for each of the songs. And you can hear magnificent interpretations that ended up elevating them to the sublime.
It is also worth mentioning the collaboration of Rui Maia (X-Wife and Mirror People), invited to be the music producer of the album. Rui Maia dived deeply into the production of the album with his marked musical aesthetic, giving a decisive contribution to the final result.
