The Mission of the „MAHONES“:
Since 1987 (!) the Mahones cater for the folk music cravings of their ever increasing crowd of followers, and thus they are one of the longest lasting bands in this sector. On more than 350 concerts, festivals & tours, among them gigs with big names in Irish party music like the “Pogues”, the “Big Geraniums”, “Celtic Road”, the “Lost T-Shirts of Atlantis” and many more, they took their mission to about 25-30 thousand people!
All over Germany, and even in Ireland, they continue to celebrate their mystical musical cures against all kinds of passive listening to music. Again and again, they convince people with their therapeutic mix of sheer fun, Irish tradition and the vitality and savoir vivre of their native city Cologne. It is a truly enthralling experience, because for the Mahones – unlike most German bands – this mix is a heartfelt thing.

The Mahones mix the passionate love of celtic music, the experience of their past nine lives, the essence of musical self-encounter groups on the green island of Ireland and heavy arguments taken from Punk, Ska, Bluegrass and Polka into one of the most thrilling Irish-Polka-Party musical ejaculates of the past, present, yesterdays, todays and tomorrows of all times! If a German band is ready to take over the inheritance of the early “Pogues” (St. Patrick may bless their souls!), it is the Mahones from Cologne!
