Raúl Rodríguez La Raíz Eléctrica
Electric-Afro-Flamenco
Raúl Rodríguez features “La Raiz Eléctrica” (Fol Música), converging investigation and experimentation giving us an intercultural journey through new music whilst naturally merging genres such as Flamenco, Afrobeat, Psychedelia, Cuban sounds, Haiti rhythms, Andalusian rock and American Singer-songwriter, creating a brand new sound; “Electric-Afro-Flamenco”. A sound trip in which the Flamenco dance becomes the driving vehicle and a new sound element.
After publishing his first solo Project “Razón de Son” (Fol Música, 2014), which was considered as one of the best albums of the year by National and International media, being performed live at many well-known venues across the world; Raúl Rodriguez, former leader of the flamenco band “Son de la Frontera”, releases his latest work, “La Raíz Eléctrica”. A new musical proposal where he has clearly developed a different sound, incorporating new instruments as the “Electric Tres” (mix of a Tres Cubanoand an electric guitar), and maintaining continuity on his research on the Afro-American presence in Andalusia, relating once more anthropological investigation and musical creativity.
"La Raíz Eléctrica", recorded between Spain and Haiti, features collaborations with Jackson Browne, Javier Más (Leonard Cohen guitar), the Haitians Paul Boubron and the percussion group Lakou Mizik, and the dancer Juan de Juan among others. It has been chosen one of the best albums of the year 2017 by Spanish and International media.
