“MÃE,” BY CRISTINA BRANCO, NOMINATED FOR BEST FADO ALBUM

The nominees for the PLAY awards, which will be presented on May 16th at a ceremony held at the Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon, were announced today at a press conference.

“Mãe” the 18th original album by Cristina Branco, is nominated in the Best Fado Album category. It’s a heartfelt homage to Fado, in which the artist lends her unique and expressive voice to a variety of composers, as has been her artistic tradition.

The album has been warmly received with sold-out audiences, marking a remarkable national and international journey. A tour that has already visited Bogotá, Lima, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Ljubljana, Dortmund, Hamburg, Porto, Lagoa, Ílhavo, Lisbon, Braga, Paris, Bordeaux, Zurich, among others, and will continue in the coming weeks to Spain, Panama, the Netherlands, and Belgium.

In “Mãe,” the singer is accompanied by musicians Bernardo Couto on Portuguese guitar, Luís Figueiredo on piano, and Bernardo Moreira on double bass.
