The Face of God combines songs from the sacred repertoire of the Sardinian tradition with the music that the Dutch cellist has composed as a soundtrack for some films directed by Werner Herzog: cinematographic works to say the least visionary about which Reijseger's music lies like a magic veil, helping to create a hypnotic effect out of time. On the one hand, the virtuosity of Reijseger, which surprises for the somewhat transgressive technique and the ability to transform even sound experimentation into poetry, on the other the harmonious mottling of the Sardinian traditional song of the Cuncordu and Tenore de Orosei: the expressive contrasts between jazz d avant-garde and sacred music of ethnic origin promise to unleash an arcane and perturbing charm.
