Cush Hunta "Greens" - Kashif Omar Downs, is a d.j warrior from the nineties dancehall experience, who did battle at a time when the music industry was a cut throat business. He fought his way on the musical scene with the overwhelming power of his voice and bar over bar style. He was conceived on Bob Marley's birthday, the 6th of February, in Port Maria, St. Mary, where he attended the Port Maria Primary School before journeying to Kingston. As a young adult, Cush learnt a trade in auto-body repairs. However, his lifelong ability to d.j to himself, friends and members of his community was expounded upon at several studios. These included: Tubbys, Jammys and Penthouse. Black Scorpio however, became the studio to do his juggling between career choices. Cush subsequently met Sugar Roy and together released Cush Huntas' first single "Kotchulla" on the Ratchet Riddim. This was followed by other releases which were loved by fans but unfortunately, did not get much love by the media. He then decided to take charge of his career; a decision which reaped instant succes with his production of his hit song "Greens" (Rasta naa feed pon greens alone) on his own Dollar Sign Productions label. Greens made a big impact on the music industry, getting regular rotation from Irie FM DJs such as DJ Smurf, Ellise Kelly, DJ Wayne and other disc jocs. Cush is currently working with various producers from different studios but has been recently signed to Cornestone Productions and The Media, Sports and Entertainment Group for select digital distribution. This strategic partnership has seen a rejuvenation of his career after a 1 year hiatus from the limelight and Cush is now 'bursting' back on the seen with his latest release 'Mawga Bwoy' which is a comical follow up to his best piece of work to date, 'Greens'. Look out for the video which should be released in June.
