During starlit sparkling Swedish winter nights, to accompaniment of sea gulls and squeaking Gothenburg trams, and on train rides between east and west, the music of Kaja has been created. Together, the three musicians have sought a way to make their compositions come alive through surprising arrangements as well as intimate interplay. Glissandos, various grooves and different ornaments reveal the members personal playing styles and on stage the communication between the three musicians is allowing, expressive, playful and tight. They flirt with a chamber musical expression without ever leaving the unpredictable spontaneousness within folk music and improvisation. The music of Kaja finds its fuel in Eastern European Folk music traditions, but the experimental parts makes the genre Kaja's very own. Outspoken, deep-rooted, wide and meandering music.
Kaja's independent way of thinking in composition and arrangement make them represent something unique on the world music scene of today. The dynamic possibilities of the acoustic instruments make this trio suitable on small intimate venues as well as big concert halls.
