They started out as street musicians, but 3 years later the Brussels trio Las Lloronas became one of the capital's best-kept musical secrets. With their atypical mix of acoustic melodies and slam, these three women effortlessly seduce friends and enemies alike. Their first album "Soaked" is proof of this. They plunge us into intimate lyrics, imbued with beautiful harmonies and melancholic melodies. During their performances, the Lloronas expose their souls in moments of great vulnerability, oscillating between lament, reverie and battle cry.
Sura Solomon (BE/USA), Amber in 't Veld (ES/NL) and Marieke Werner (DE) met years ago and share a passion for sociology, activism and art. This passion is now translated and transformed into music. Their work reflects their experiences and origins, merging different musical traditions with slam, creating an intimate, multilingual feminist poetry. The harmonies of these three voices seem to come together almost effortlessly, but make no mistake about it. Their message is strong. They approach subjects such as feminism, privilege or social commitment with impatience but also with hope.
Inspired by musicians such as Lhasa de Sela, Noname and Ibeyi and accompanied by guitar, accordion, ukulele and clarinet, Las Lloronas create a delightful polyphonic symbiosis of traditional Spanish music, klezmer, fado, blues and slam, which can only be described as "Las Lloronas". A journey between laughter and tears.
