The musical form “Reng” in Iranian Radif music is rarer than any other forms (Pish Daramad, ChaharMezrab, Tasnif etc.). It needs melody more than others on account of its motifs and phrase structures and melody arises from verves. Moreover, lack of repetition and the intactness of phrasal forms in each time signature have made it one of the most difficult Radif musical compositions. We see few competent Reng composers. Perhaps, by publishing a considerable number of Rengs, Faramarz Payvar was the one who could make a broader place for Reng among the main repertoires; or such artists as Arshad Tahmasbi attempted to more introduce it by collecting them. The present collection is an anthology of Radif music Rengs performed by Kamancheh by way of the conventional modulations different dastgahs. All four players aimed at integrating their personal interpretation of this untouched territory into one single musical ocean, an immense ocean that gets in motion by an overflowing verve. The combination of melodies in solo performances indicates that this process eventually belongs to zest and the vigor of spirit. What we hear here is for the soul and for the sake of heart.
