Singer and songwriter, electronic sound painter, film composer, collaborator in visual and installation art projects, Ana Lua Caiano's prolific multi-disciplinary activities denote a mind constantly turning experience into creativity. In 2017 she achieved a national profile as songwriter and singer in the environmentally conscious acoustic ensemble project, Os Vertigem. In her solo shows she creates original compositions invoking the spirits of the great pool of traditional Portuguese styles and reanimating them for the modern electronic technological world. From simple beginnings she quickly constructs rhythmic frameworks using beatbox, handclaps, drum and shakers, overlaying keyboard textures, everyday ambient sounds and her voice, while mixing an inventive path through shifting dynamic changes. Her solo live 'SDB Sessions' performance was released in 2021 and more videos and an EP have surfaced this year. Much more to come soon.
