Followers of Brazilian popular music need no introduction to Arnaldo Antunes. In a long, diverse and prolific career, the São Paulo poet, composer and singer has continually reinvented himself to great acclaim, chalking up several platinum albums and a Latin Grammy. He first came to fame in 1982 with iconic rock group Titãs, leaving them in 1992 to pursue a solo career. Along the way he has worked with numerous other artists – most notably the supergroup Tribalistas alongside Marisa Monte and Carlinhos Brown – released 12 solo albums and published several books of poetry. In 2020, he teamed up with gifted pianist Vitor Araujo, whose wildly eclectic output covers orchestral compositions, avantgarde jazz, Brazilian classical and experimental pop. On their collaborative album, Lagrimas No Mar, Antunes's poetry shines within the inventive expanse of Araujo's remarkable playing.
