Fans of timba music need no introduction to Manolito Simonet y su Trabuco. The 16 piece orchestra is one of Cuba’s greatest and best-loved timba bands with dozens of international tours to its credit over the past 25 years.

Headed by pianist Manolito Simonet, who made his name in the 80s as musical director of pioneering charanga Orquesta Maravillas de Florida. He formed Manolito Simonet y su Trabuco in 1993, creating an innovatory line-up by adding a horn section and three singers to a traditional charanga set-up, a dynamic development that made an immediate impact on Cuban TV. The following year they produced the first of their 15 albums to date and too many hit singles to count. International tours, awards and collaborations have followed in a glittering career with no sign of losing its lustre.
