Rodrigo Sosa grew up in Misiones, Argentina and at an early age fell in love with the sound of the quena, the Andean flute of ancient heritage. Aged 17 he visited Cuba and fell in love with the island and its people, returning a couple of years later to live there and study transverse flute at Havana's National School of Art. His dazzling and soulful virtuosity on the quena has led to collaborations with artists such as Silvio Rodriguez, Omara Portuondo, Pancho Amat, Natalia Lafourcade, Lila Downs, Javier Malosetti, among others. In 2017 he released his first album as leader, La Quenistica. Rodrigo Sosa journeys with the quena through different soundscapes, distilling tango, cueca, danzón, son and jazz, expertly assisted by his trio, a highest-quality combo featuring renowned pianist and composer Alejandro Falcón and percussionist Adner López.
