Symbio is the apt moniker for the symbiotic musical partnership of accordionist extraordinaire LarsEmil Öjeberget and master hurdy-gurdy manipulator Johannes Geworkian Hellman. As in the best symbiotic relationships, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, as evidenced by the large canvas impressionistic storytelling invoked by the energy exchange of their instruments, buzzing with harmonic resonance and liquid melody lines, joyfully exploring the place where folk roots, electronic dance music and minimalism meet. The collaboration began in 2011, formulating the sounds that emerged in 2016 on their debut album, Phoresy, promptly earning them Best Newcomer of the Year status at the Swedish Folk and World Music Awards. Since then, they have toured widely in Sweden, Europe, the US and Canada, releasing their third album, Endeavour in 2022. In 2023 they have been awarded the prize for Best Album of the Year at the Swedish Folk & World Music awards. Innovative, celebratory, emotive soul music.
