Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) is an easy to understand graphic modelling language for creating diagrams of work processes. These diagrams are a useful tool to describe, analyse, improve, implement, and monitor business processes, for example when creating guidelines for new employees. BPMN also promotes a general understanding of business work-flows and interaction with business partners – how and why you do something the way you do it.

It was developed by Business Informatics for better communication, and is widely used in administration and quality management, as well as organisational or software development. During the session, we will introduce the concept of business process modelling and best practice. We will explain all the basic graphic elements and their meaning and illustrate usage with simple diagrams of common music industry related business processes.
