As 2016 marks the 50th anniversary of de Doelen, the Opening will be organised by our local partners and will explore the innovative art music of our host country, the Netherlands.
The keynote will be delivered by Hans Rehberg of the Berlin Radio Choir, Chi-chi Nwanoku of London’s Chineke Orchestra and world-renowned conductor and director Michael Tilson Thomas.
From a long list of candidates, three expert curators and the de Doelen team selected six artists who will perform and convey the diversity of the Netherlands’ teeming classical world.
The opening will also feature film by Jules van Hulst, co-founder of the legendary 33 1/3 Collective, highlighting the interdisciplinary qualities found so often in Dutch music making.
