The roots of Carmen Paris’s music run deep in the jota tradition of her native Aragon. This expression of the Aragonese soul has remained the bedrock of her multifarious excursions into a wide range of musical styles. She released her first album Pa’ mi genio in 2002, a contemporary take on jota that won her national acclaim. Since then, she has boldly experimented with jazz, tango, bolero, ranchero, Andean, Cuban, Andalusian, Eastern Mediterranean and flamenco influences, picking up multiple awards not only for her successful albums but also for her contribution to raising international awareness of the Jota tradition.
