The Basque Country is a cool place to be thats true, surfing, snowboarding & enjoying life is the norm, or is it ? Just like the rest of the world the younger generation have experience of the darker side of life, the angst, the rejection & the anger. Providing a Musical backdrop to all this activity are Split 77, four youngters destined for stardom. Based in Bilbao, singing in Basque is not the obvious recipe for success, but listen closer for the influences, from the art & expression of The Velvet Underground, Bowie, Radiohead, via the organic elegance of Kraftwerk & the rock of The Smashing Pumpkins, to the romanticism of Joy Division. The listener is drawn into a world of distorted Guitar & Electronica backed by a powerful, solid Rhythm Section, all presented with a sublime awareness of both ambience & melody. The future looks very positive, but these boys know that it takes a lot of dedication & hard work to make an impact in a very competitive International Scene .........But eh ! THIS JUST THE BEGINNING
